An empty nest. You’ve heard about this time in your life from the day you announced you’re pregnant. In this case, you’ve spent your whole life raising three beautiful children, who have grown up and are now in high school or college. They are moving on with their life and now is the time to sit back…relax…and change diapers? Yep, that’s right and that’s exactly what happened to The Price Family.
“We are parents to 3 grown biological children. When they started getting into high school and college, we felt a tug on our hearts to become a licensed foster family.” – Cheryl Price, Mom
The Price Family has been a licensed foster family for 9 years (and counting)! In that time, they have welcomed 14 kiddos that are considered long-term, staying with the family for over a month. The family also welcomes kiddos that are considered short-term or respite care. Sometimes these kiddos are there for a weekend or a week or two, usually until the other foster family is home from a trip or until Social Services finds a suitable home. The Price Family has adopted two siblings into their family forever and are currently fostering two baby brothers. Plus, their biological children have provided them with two grandchildren, making them one big happy family of 10.
“Life is crazy! I never thought that I would be raising infants and toddlers at almost 60 years old, but we wouldn’t want to live any other way. We feel blessed to be a part of these sweet children’s lives.”
When our organization heard about this incredible family and the difference they are making, we put together one of our Potassium CARE Baskets, provided by donors from our organization. This basket is used to sprinkle love, positivity, thanks, and support to foster families making a difference.
“We appreciate organizations like Bananas Foster and countless others that support families just like ours along the foster care journey.”
Making sure foster families feel supported is just the ‘cherry on top’ of what we do at Bananas Foster!
