POTASSIUM C.A.R.E. BASKETS

FOSTER CARE COMES WITH UNCERTAINTY, BUT SUPPORT SHOULDN’T.

Our Potassium C.A.R.E. Baskets exist to meet the needs of children, teens, and families experiencing foster care. C.A.R.E. stands for Caregivers Access to Resources and Essentials. Whether it’s a child arriving with very little or a foster family navigating new and immediate needs, we step in with tangible support and compassion in this journey.

When needs are shared, we build each basket specifically for that child or family — providing essentials that bring comfort, stability, and hope. When needs aren’t immediate or shared, we offer a general CARE Basket with a gift card, so they can access what they need, when they need it most. These baskets may also include Banana Ball goodies to add an extra element of joy and encouragement.

On average, a basket costs $250. However, this amount varies because every situation is different and each basket is unique.

By supporting Potassium CARE Baskets, you’re not just giving supplies…you’re turning a stressful transition into one that feels supported and full of hope.

“We have an almost 18 year old foster daughter who came to us about a month ago, after being in foster care for a little over a year and being bounced around, for simply being a teenager and doing teenager things. Her first placement was a group home, where she had very limited freedoms. Obviously group homes are necessary because there just aren’t enough foster families who take teenagers.  This sweet teen wanted to be with a foster family. She said she just wanted to stop getting  ‘passed around’ because she just wants a stable home where she can finish school and graduate. That broke my heart. She wants to get a job and do things that ‘normal kids’ her age do, however ALL of those things are really difficult without a phone.

Thank you to everyone who supports Bannanas Foster! Because of your generosity, we were able to bless this beautiful girl with something big and unexpected. She was so shocked and grateful when we surprised her with a phone. I wish I could share the way her face lit up or let you feel the way my heart grew- just being able to be the conduit of your generosity. You all helped restore a little faith in humanity for a teenager , who desperately needed it, this week. From the bottom of my heart- thank you!”

“I wanted to thank you for the amazing Potassium Care Basket we received! We accepted our first placement this year and became first-time parents as we don’t have any biological children! We didn’t even have age appropriate books and then remembered we had Go Bananas! Thank you for knowing we’d need it before we did! They came to our home with the clothes they were wearing and, again, we reached into our care package and used the gift card to help us get the essentials. They came with a painful past and we are doing our best to guide them and love them through their ongoing trauma. They said they have never played any sports except in gym class and haven’t seen ay played on TV or in real life. The 9-year-old didn’t know the difference between a football, soccer ball, or basketball, but he did know the baseball was the small one. They are experiencing ‘firsts’ every day and so are we!

Thank you again for the care package. It has meant so much to us. GO BANANAS!”

“My 15-year-old foster daughter has been through one of the most horrific things imaginable and came to us with nothing much other than the clothes on her back. The next morning I asked about getting her some clothing. She didn’t want to be ‘any trouble,’ so we created a wish list on Amazon.

With your help and generosity, Bananas Foster helped provide some new clothing and comfort items. The MP3 player and earbuds were such a gift to be able to listen to music. Music is such a powerful tool, and it’s a great way for kids to find comfort when they are feeling sad, lonely, or even angry.

Thank you for helping provide necessities and comfort for this teen in one of the most difficult moments of her life.”

“I wanted to make sure to say thank you for the Bananas care package that you sent us. The kids love all of the goodies and the cards. And the [monetary] gift card was a blessing. The kids love to dress up in their Banana gear. Our foster son even insisted on wearing his Bananas hat with his Spiderman costume for Halloween!

Thank you for all you and the rest of the Bananas Foster team do for the foster community.”
